Abstract:
Thomas Wolfe (1900-1938) was a major American novelist of the early 20th century. His works use emotional melodies as the inner structure. He selects topics from real life with bold, unrestrained, and lyrical color. The short story The Far and the Near is one of his masterpieces. It shows the philosophical meaning and aesthetic pursuit by way of situation design of the contradiction between the far and the near. It also shows the various artistic styles of the author.
